Equality at Shurdington

The Equality Act 2010 requires us to publish information that demonstrates that we have due regard for the need to:


  • Eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment, victimisation and any other conduct prohibited by the Equality Act 2010
  • Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it
  • Foster good relationships between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it.

Shurdington Cof E Primary is an inclusive school where we focus on the well-being and progress of every child and where all members of our community are of equal worth. Our Policy which can be found below clearly states "Equal opportunities should permeate all aspects of school life, and is the responsibility of every member of the school community... We believe that all members of our community should be treated with equal respect and consideration. We will not tolerate acts of discrimination at Shurdington CE Primary School".

To ensure our premises is fully accessible to all.

Pupil in setting with access needs is often unable to access hall without going outside. Visitors find access to hall difficult if they have a disability that affects their mobility.

Continue to meet the needs of disadvantaged children so that progress improves, specifically disadvantaged KS2 children in reading.

End of KS2 data in 2017-18 shows progress for disadvantaged children is -3.97.

July 2019

End of KS data will show progress score is better than -3.97.

Tracking of disadvantaged children will identify barriers and actions to overcome them.

To review levels of parental engagement in school life to ensure there is equal access for all with a special focus on parents of EAL children.

We have a growing number of EAL children and would like to ensure that all members of our school family are treated fairly with regards to access and engagement opportunities.
